Arizona Automobile Theft Authority Website Services Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting Arizona Automobile Theft Authority (AATA) Website Services and reviewing our Privacy Policy. This policy is designed to inform our customers about the services that are available through AATA Website Services, how certain information may be collected and/or used as a result of you visiting our website or requesting services online, and what steps we are taking to ensure the security of customer data.

Your rights to privacy are of utmost importance to the AATA and it is our desire to earn your trust and confidence when you visit our website via the Internet.

Online Customer Service and Alternatives

The AATA Website Services offers many of the services online that you might otherwise transact in person with our Agency. In addition to the information services offered by the AATA, we also offer the Watch Your Car Program.  Participants in this program may register their vehicles to notify law enforcement that their vehicles should not be operated between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., as a means of vehicle theft deterrent.  Our goal is to provide citizens with more convenient and efficient ways in which to interact with Arizona Government. If at any time you choose not to proceed with a transaction offered through the AATA Website Services, your choice will in no way affect your ability to receive services. If you prefer to apply for services in person, you may do so at the AATA's Office located at 1400 W. Washington St., Suite 270 , Phoenix , AZ 85007 .

Collection and Use of Information

AATA Website Services utilizes session "cookies" (small bits of data that a web server stores on your computer's hard drive) to collect the following information about your visit to this website:

  1. Which AATA Website Services application you have used; and
  2. The date and time of your access.

These session cookie(s) are used to maintain your transaction(s) on AATA Website Services and expire at the end of the session. This information never identifies you personally.   None of the above information is shared, sold, or otherwise disseminated by AATA Website Services. Again, we do not automatically record any information about you as an individual.

Please be aware that if your Internet browser is configured to refuse or disable "cookies," your ability to view our web pages will be unaffected, but you will not be able to take advantage of any of our online services.  Instead, you may choose to transact business with AATA either in person or by mail.

Information You Choose to Provide

When applying for services through AATA Website Services, you will be required to enter certain personal information, such as your name, home address, phone number, the vehicle identification number, license plate number, and vehicle specifications. For each online transaction, we ask for no more than the information required to process that transaction. The questions posed are similar to those you would be asked during an in-person visit to the AATA office or through the mail. Only those AATA employees who need your information in order to provide the services offered on this website are given access to such information. The sole purpose for collecting the membership information is to verify the vehicle ownership with the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division and to mail the WYC Program decals to the new member.

Please be assured that the personal information you disclose to us online will be held in the strictest confidence while AATA Website Services processes your transaction and will not be shared, sold, or otherwise disseminated to any outside person or entity, except as required or authorized by law.

However, because some of the information submitted to AATA (either through Arizona Automobile Theft Authority Website Services or directly) is potentially subject to release under Arizona's Public Records Law, the agency may be required to divulge the information provided with the Watch Your Car Program enrollment form in response to a lawful public records request or in response to a warrant, subpoena, or other court order. When necessary, we may also disclose personal information to law enforcement officials if there is reason to believe that the disclosure of such information is required to identify, contact, or bring legal action against an individual who attempts to perpetrate a fraud against, or gain unauthorized access to the AATA Website Services.

Security

Your privacy and security are our highest priority. That's why we're hard at work on an ongoing basis to keep AATA Website Services as secure as possible. Here are just a few of the things we are doing to protect you:

  • All confidential records are kept locked inside an "electronic vault" protected by the most advanced security technologies and among the most comprehensive security programs and services in the industry.
  • All AATA Website Services transactions convert to a secured mode, using encryption through secured socket layer (SSL), as soon as the customer clicks on the icon from the home page. All personal information is encrypted when sent from or received by the customer’s computer.
  • AATA conducts audits of every security checkpoint several times a year. This includes a rigorous inspection of AATA technology, procedures, training and personnel.

We hope you will take advantage of the convenience AATA Website Services offers with complete confidence in its security. If you have any concerns, please contact us at aata@aata.az.gov.

NOTE: AATA Website Services does not collect or share data on Website users for marketing purposes.
